Cyberpunk 2077 PS5: Will The Game Be Available at Launch?

Sony, the masterminds behind the PS5, have been very sluggish as far as their Public Relations campaign is concerned. Microsoft, at the moment, seems to be having the best foot forward and already winning the PR war.

We have a lot that we already know about the next-gen Xbox Series X. The appearance, the specs, some of the games, and the general feel of this new console. Spencer, the Xbox boss, and his team are really doing great in marketing their new tech baby.

There is so much that we don’t know about the PS5. I don’t know if Sony is doing that intentionally or due to the Covid-19 pandemic that has really shaken the world’s economy. Well, time will tell.

Sony has only revealed little about its next-gen console, the PS5. What many PS5 fans are worried about is the games that will feature in the new PlayStation console. How many games will be available at launch?

One of the most popular games is Cyberpunk 2077. Cyberpunk fans are worried about the new console and whether the game will be available for PS5.

So, will Cyberpunk 2077 be available for PS5?

According to CD Projekt, the developers behind the Cyberpunk 2077, the game will be available for both PS5 and Xbox but not at launch. According to the developer, the Cyber 2077 upgrade will come out at a later date.

A proper next-gen full-blown version of the Cyberpunk 2077 will come to Xbox Series X and PS5. However, the game won’t be available when the two consoles will be launching.

According to CD Projekt, the game is still set to release in September. The game will be available “from the get-go” on the next-gen console, Xbox Series X. The enhanced, next-gen version of the game, according to the developer, will come out at a later date.

The Cyberpunk 2077 Will Use Xbox Series X’s Smart Delivery Feature

So far, CD Projekt has only confirmed Cyberpunk 2077 for the next-gen Xbox Series X. The game will make use of the new series’ Smart Delivery feature. This feature will allow Cyberpunk 2077 players on the Xbox One to upgrade their game to a Series X version for free.

That now makes sense, but we are so much concerned whether the Smart Delivery has been fully implemented since more games will need to take a similar move as CD Projekt, and avail their games for the next-gen console.

What about Sony’s PS5? The Cyberpunk 2077 developers also suggested that the game will also be available in the PS5. I mean, why not? However, they will be waiting first for Sony to make the announcement.

If CD Projekt is planning on releasing an upgraded Cyberpunk 2077 version, it means that Sony will also need to come up with a Smart Delivery the same as Xbox to make this a reality.

For now, all we can do is speculate, but it would make sense why Sony hasn’t confirmed whether the game will be coming or not – maybe till they reveal a forward-compatibility feature the same as the competitors, Xbox.

If that won’t be possible, it means that fans will have to hold out till there’s a full-blown and proper next-gen edition of the Cyberpunk 2077.

The good news is that the Cyberpunk 2077 is reportedly still set to premiere on September 17. However, part of voice work might need to be done through a launch-day patch because of the closure of the recording studios following the coronavirus pandemic.
